The Unforgettables

Watching our Grandpa Bingham journey through the deepening degree of Alzheimer's is not easy. Were the levels named differently, I could almost connect such a descent to Dante's spiritual levels of destruction.
This morning, Grandpa began to cry when Grandma wished him a Merry Christmas.
"I didn't get you anything," he sobbed.
"Yes, you did."
"But I don't remember."
This story would be sad(der) were it not contrasted with the things Grandpa is not forgetting: His testimony of the restored gospel and his love for his wife and four daughters. I have never seen a more poignant and tender Grandpa Bingham. Moroni 7:28 reads: "and they who have faith in him will cleave unto every good thing" (emphasis added). Though he forgets the "little" things, Alzheimer's Disease is unable to separate Grandpa from the eternally good things in life. This stems from a life of kindly service and valiance. And though this trend may not be applicable to all cases, it is comforting to see Romans 8:38-39 alive in at least one person's life:

38 For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,
39 Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

There are lots of other scriptures pertinent to this post; please share what scripture(s) came to your mind.
